King Claudius, in a dismissive tone, summarizes the problem posed by Fortinbras and tells his court that he is dealing with it. "Now follows, that you know, young Fortinbras, / Holding a weak supposal of our worth . . ." (1.2.17-18). After telling of how King Hamlet killed King Fortinbras, Horatio goes on to explain that young Fortinbras, with an irregular army, apparently means to get back what his father lost in that battle with King Hamlet. "Now sir, young Fortinbras, / Of unimproved mettle, hot and full . . ." (1.1.95-96).
